Two Pakistani suicide attackers, part of a group of 20-25 alleged Lashkar-e-Tayyeba operatives that launched a deadly attacks in Mumbai on Wednesday night, had checked into the Taj Mahal hotel four days earlier. This is what two of the apprehended terrorists now in Mumbai Police’s custody told Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials.
“One of the two terrorists who had checked into the Taj Hotel on November 22 was Ajmal Amir, a resident of Faridkot, Multan. The other could have been shot dead in operations,” a senior IB officer told HT after the suspects’ debriefing. “The two used false identities and checked into room number 630,” he added.
“The duo received several visitors between Saturday, November 22 and Wednesday, when the attacks began. These visitors carried bags probably filled with weapons and explosives.” The officer said Manjar, who was also held by police, told interrogators the group was in telephonic contact with mentors in Karachi throughout the
attacks.
The suspects allegedly revealed the plan to attack Mumbai was formulated by the LeT brass a year back. They also claimed the group of men “specialized in terror training at Muzaffarabad in PoK and naval training in Karachi” from Laskhar trainers, another interrogator said.
An IB alert issued last January had claimed that a team of LeT terror team had been assigned to strike in Mumbai from sea......................................................................."
The above is straight from Hindustan Times
I wonder if Rattan Tata realized this before commenting on Nation's failure to learn from the past, he accused the politicians for not synergising and gearing up for such eventualities with latest state of art equipment.........
But Mr. Rattan Tata,...If you can hear me
"I squarely accuse you for offering your Hotel as a launch pad....... well you have all the monies in the world, access to latest technology... so what prevented you from installing state of art technologies such as infrared scanners,X Ray machines, automated shutting mechanisms, alarm systems etc...... what really failed was The Taj Security System . It is just not possible to storm inside the hotel with such large amount of Ammunition, they would have stocked it over period of time and possibly with help of some Moles as permanent Staffers or resident Guests who might have entered earlier without being checked or challenged."
What needs to be done is to be more proactive for each one of us including the corporate citizens with whom CSR rests, rather than raising fingers at each other for accountability. We need to get together to get ourselves better equipped to face such eventualities......God Forbid
If we analyze, as a Nation our intelligence failed, our Coastal Guards could not catch them,Our Local Police Beat Patrols failed to detect them.....we as citizens of the country also were caught napping....... and to top with this our 24X7 Media was in fact revealing minute by minute account of our NSG operations to the terrorists, they knew exactly what number of commandos are coming, where they are landing from chopper, which entrance which floor etc in fact all this would have assisted the Terrorist to plan his next move and the task of NSG commandos that much difficult, as commandos rely to large extent on 'Surprise' and 'Speed' of the operation which was lost thanks to the Media....... None the less Our Brave Hearts NSG Commandos came out victorious .......we Lost Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and Hav Gajendra Singh to whom I Salute for their rarest of rare courage and supreme sacrifice
